In Mating Calls, I treat the stage as an exploration in Queer Ecology. This project is a playful yet rigorous inquiry into the biological architectures of intimacy. By teasing out the diverse mating systems found across the animal kingdom, I challenge the heteronormative "natural" myths that often govern our understanding of biology and desire.
I invite the audience to chart the wild variations of non-human mating—from the hermaphroditic to the polyamorous and the non-binary—before turning the mirror back onto our own species. By layering human sexuality over these diverse biological maps, the work confronts the rigid social structures and normalization tactics that police our bodies and identities.
